Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire in the Mendhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday. The ceasefire violation was initiated by Pakistani troops at around 9:30 am. The Pakistani Army fired small and heavy arms, including mortars across the Line of Control (LoC). There have been no reports of casualties or injuries. According to reports, 50 school kids who were trapped in the Pakistan firing were rescued by the authorities. Meanwhile, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lt General Ranbir Singh visited forward posts of the LoC in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district.
While interacting with media, Lt Gen Singh said, “There are a large no. of leaders across LoC to instigate people of PoK. It’s actually trying to use them as cannon fodder for attempts to come close to LoC. Should there be any misadventure, they shall be given a befitting response.” He also said that the Indian Army had foiled all the infiltration attempts along the LoC.
